Daughters Of Odin

Our Story
Many people ask us how we came up with our Chapter name: “Daughters of Odin”. We have our fearless Chapter leader, Michelle, to thank for this! Her passion for mythology and love of the show “Vikings” lead her to share with us her idea for the name. Odin was the Norse god of travel and was often depicted riding an eight-legged steed … and that’s when something clicked! We had four founding members back in 2016, each of us with two legs … which makes eight. And so, easily enough, the Daughters were born!
The Daughters – now all 44 legs! – are more than just a riding group. We hail from myriad backgrounds, ride different types of bikes (from Indians to Hondas and from Harleys to Kawasakis!) and, like many Chapters, we’ve seen deep friendships formed through other shared values, hobbies, professions and passions. And of course, we ride! Over the years we’ve taken as many back roads as possible, extended our trips to include Babes Ride Out East, Fox Run, Americade, Laconia, Ride for the Y, WITW Summer Internationals and a host of other biker events, given each other some pretty appropriate road names (Samsonite, Kitt, San Diego, Princess, Olaf, Paparazzi and Quiet Storm, to name a few!) and spent time peeing in the woods on overnight trips out-of-state. We’ve shared information on safety, bike maintenance, getting your first bike, taking advanced riding courses and suggestions for long solo road trips. And we’ve supported each other through the loss of family members, physical illness, mental health challenges, and, of course, the effects many of us have felt because of challenges brought about by COVID. Most importantly, we’ve been there for each other through many a trying – and indeed many a positive! – time.
